“This practice has been a godsend to me. They’ve helped me through a very challenging health issue with skill and professionalism. Not only is Dr. Stollman one of the coolest doctors you’ll ever meet, he’s also one of the most capable and competent. His office staff is great, too.”

“Dr. Stollman is brilliant, personable (so personable), and simply the best g.i. doc on the planet. I am actually not dreading my future colonoscopy with him.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about him (oh, yes, a lot of physicians go to him for their g.i. care), and he is also enlightened enough to entertain the less conventional modalities like pro-biotics, for example.

This guy is a “mensch”!!!! (and that’s a good thing)”

“Had my colonoscopy and endoscopy with Dr. Stollman–everything went great, and he even accommodated me when I couldn’t prep with the initial bowel prep he gave me–I was throwing up, profusely. He is a real master with the scope and very reassuring. Dr. Stollman is a keeper.”

– J J.

“I just got back from my appointment with Dr. Villagomez. I was early and was in and out of her office before my appointment time. I enjoyed meeting her and found her knowledgeable and efficient. I found the office staff friendly and caring.”

– Carol B.

“It was my first visit to a Gastro doctor and Dr. Silvia Villagomez was wonderful. The office is busy but I was seen quickly. When the bill was larger than I had planned (turned out insurance paid less then I estimated), they let me make payments over three months.

Dr. Villagomez knows her stuff.”

– Baby G.

“I know people don’t usually write of good experiences after a colonoscopy, but I had a great one! Dr. Liana Vesga was my doctor. The entire medical staff was pleasant and present. I endured no pain, and actually got a look at the screen towards the end. I can’t say enough about the medical staff and Dr. Vesga. I no longer fear colonoscopies!”

– Sue S.

“Very satisfied with my colonoscopy performed by Dr. Wu. Professional and comfortable to talk to prior to procedure. Can’t say enough about the wonderful medical personnel from the young woman who found my hard-to-find veins to the wonderful anesthetist who made me feel very safe and secure. Being relatively new to bay area, I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Wu and his staff for this very important procedure.”

– Susan H.

“Dr. Stollman is a top-notch physician in his field. One of the best gastroenterologists I have met with. I highly recommend a consultation with him.”

“Came to Dr. Hargrave very very ill with severe Crohns. His treatment really put me back on my feet. His protocol for preventing fistulas (I spend 5 days in the hospital with one of those) has prevented them for 20 years, an incredible result. His sardonic manner is a great tonic to the angst and sturm and drang of active Crohns. Have relocated and have found no one to equal him where I am now.”

“Got a colonoscopy under Dr. Vesga’s care. The procedure occurred at East Bay Endosurgery. It is factory style medicine for the procedure but very efficient and they did all the right things like double checking the right patient, procedure, medical info, etc. I asked for a change to what they usually do and they agreed. I carefully watched the cleaning up of another bed when I was in recovery and it was excellent. Very thorough. High marks go to all involved.”

– Cathy W.

“Dr. Stollman caught my colon cancer early and I was able to avoid chemotherapy. Dr. Stollman played a key role in saving my life. I am generally very doctor-averse, but he is so much fun to talk to and to be around that I was willing to come in for procedures without my usual foot-dragging. If all gastroenterologists were as wonderful as Dr. Stollman, there would be a higher compliance rate with screening procedures.”

“I have been so completely impressed with the care from Dr. Danny Wu that my whole family and close friends have all become patients of his. I personally have a relatively rare condition of the GI tract and have turned to Dr. Wu to assist in unraveling the details and the whys of my case. He has performed several endoscopies and colonoscopies on me both for routine diagnostic and case specific surveillance purposes and has found things that others at well-known institutions clearly missed due to his thorough attention to detail. He is not afraid nor concerned with taking the extra time or going the extra mile for whatever the particular individual may need. He is a thorough patient educator, diagnostician and professional care giver. What is lost in this era of insurance dictated, financially driven, electronic dictated care, Dr. Wu still has managed to maintain his personal, compassionate, & enthusiastic style while continuing to use his absolute brilliance in his care of humankind. His office staff and the Endo Center staff have been, efficient, courteous and attentive on every occasion. Thank you!”

“I have been a patient of Paul Chard for many years. He is the third gastroenterologist with whom I’ve worked since being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease 15 years ago and is, by far, one of the best physicians who has overseen my care in any area of medicine. Paul is kind, compassionate, responsive, and stops at nothing to care for his patients He and his staff respond to my calls and requests promptly and he has always found a way to squeeze me into his busy schedule when necessary.

I have been impressed by Pauls’ willingness to consider Eastern and non-traditional medicine as supplements to Western medicine and appreciate that, even when he is dubious about their value, he has not denigrated my choices. In addition, he has no qualms about asking other medical practitioners for their thoughts when we have been stymied by some of my symptoms. There are many physician’s whose egos prevent them from admitting when they do not know something, often to the detriment of patients, and Paul has never been one of those doctors.

Finally, Paul is unfailingly kind and patient. He has shown true compassion when I have felt the worst, patiently listened to my fears, and weighed my concerns before recommending courses of action. I cannot recommend him highly enough.”

“Yesterday, I walked into my appointment, and the way Dr. Ng looked at me… it almost made me cry, the stark difference between how she looks at me, and how everyone else looks at me. She knows I look fine, but I’m not. She knows that it’s not going as we hoped. Her facial expression just said “I see you. You’re in a rough spot.”

And then today, at 7:30 pm, Dr. Ng called me to say that she thinks we need to take a different course of action from the one we agreed upon yesterday. She was thinking about me. I’m totally impressed at how Dr. Ng just clearly cares about what my quality of life is.

I’ve never met a more competent doctor. Dr. Ng says what she’s observed, what beliefs she holds, what she doesn’t know, and answers all of my questions to the best of her ability.

Every time I talk with Dr. Ng, I’m just like “Wow. This human being really cares.”

The office staff seem to get along well with each other it creates a nice atmosphere. They’re also attentive to patients and have been helpful every time I’ve needed something.

Joyce, Dr. Ng’s assistant (is that the word?) is great. Helpful, follows up relatively quickly, and went on a bit of a goose chase with me once, trying to figure out how to get bloodwork to the clinic.”

“Dr. Wu – Extremely attentive – thoughtful and skillful. His complete explanations are very appreciated. Dr. Wu is in my opinion the very best.”

“I am very pleased to have Dr. Susie Ng as my gastroenterologist. She is treating my longstanding IBD (Crohn’s disease) condition and as a person is caring, warm and listens and communicates well. Medically, she speaks on the basis of her top-notch, recent medical training and experience. The office is a model of today’s and tomorrow’s world: the doctors, the office staff, and the patients are culturally, ethnically and gender diverse. And the staff have been efficient and friendly. I recommend Dr. Ng without reservation to anyone who may have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and I would have great confidence in her treatment of other gut-related problems as well.”

– AF, Oakland

“Dr. Chard is a remarkable physician and I am glad to be his patient.

He is respectful of his patients, and very courteous to us. This matters! He is also deeply thoughtful. He approached my ailment with an inquisitive and open-minded attitude. Since my illness was difficult to diagnose, I saw him fairly regularly for more than a year. He was always responsive and helpful. He was prepared to spend as much time with me as I needed, and that sometimes stretched to 60 minutes. He returned messages promptly, and on one occasion, made sure to return a call from me while I was in Europe. He could always tell me what the latest research indicated and how it might bear on my problem. In the end, he devised a treatment plan that was also a diagnostic, and after a series of trials and errors, he was able to identify my problem and the proper treatment for it. My life has changed since then, largely due to his care.”

“I have come to like Dr. Ng. Getting a Crohn’s diagnosis was very difficult to hear. Dr. Ng and I talked about it at length each time we met.

She is reserved but at the same time, concerned and interested in what I have to say. Some people might have a difficult time with her quiet reserve, but I find it calming in an otherwise situation that is stressful enough. She was very proactive and put me on Humira as soon as she felt it was the proper thing to do.

When I have labs done, she reaches out to let me know the results and if we have to change meds or not.

We always conclude the office visit with Dr. Ng telling me to call if there is a problem or if I have questions.

The office staff is welcoming, friendly and one woman in particular always remembers my name even if it’s been a while since I’ve been there – wish I could remember her name :(.

I would recommend Dr. Ng – although I hope I don’t have to do that!”

Thanks….”

“This morning (2/1/17) I had a colonoscopy at the East Bay Endosurgery Center. Everyone (from front office to nurses, to the doctor) I dealt with during this entire process (from the initial consult through the procedure today) were friendly, helpful, and professional. In particular, I would like to mention Dr. Vesca (who performed the procedure) (from the East Bay Center for Digestive Health), the nurse Cindy that prepped me this morning, and Raji the nurse anesthesiologist – all of whom took especially good care of me. I will definitely continue as a patient of Dr. Vesca’s, and will highly recommend her and the surgery center and digestive health practice to my family and friends.”

– Seaneen M Wilson

“First time visited East Bay Center for Digestive Heath, register by email before the date check in. Everyone was nice and thank you for making this such a smooth process!”

– MZ

“I was delightfully impressed with the way Dr.Wu thoroughly explained what he was seeing during the procedure and what that means to me. He was very personable and I felt confident in his expertise.”

– SAK

“This was NOT my first visit. I’ve been coming here for years.”

– Paul Friedman

“They were great. From the receptionist to post-op care!”

– Bill B

“Excellent and efficient service by all staff. One confusing outcome was inconsistency between Findings (2 polyps) and Impression (1 polyp) descriptions. But final report days later cleared it up.”

“I am very satisfied with Dr. Wu. He has tried many treatments to help me. At times I do feel a bit rushed with my appointments, but that seems to be par for the course these days. He does answer phone calls in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend him.”

“Dr. Chard did miracle for me. I was misdiagnosed with IBS when other doctors (5 in all) didn’t know what was wrong with me 5 ys ago, after I caught a bad bug overseas. I was having a lot of pain over almost a year, until a friend recommended Dr. Chard. I’ve since recovered and for the record do not have IBS. If you are lucky enough to see Dr. Chard, he may just save your life.“

“I’ve been seeing Dr. Chard for my ulcerative colitis for about 15 years, and I don’t know how I could have gotten through this time without him. Friendly, knowledgeable, down-home, patient – he’s exactly the kind of doctor you want when you’re sick and scared. He’s great in the examining room, great in the operating room, and – and this is increasingly important – great at dealing with recalcitrant insurance companies who are dragging their heels about paying for the medications you need to get well. He’s also great at getting back to you when you leave a message for him – an increasing rarity these days.

A medical procedure can be a traumatic experience, but Dr. Chard has a calm, confident manner that makes you feel you’re in good hands – and you are! If any of my closest friends or family members ever need a good G.I. doctor (and we all will, eventually), I won’t hesitate to send them to him.”
